We're EH3-Milers, an Edinburgh-based running (and drinking) group.
We only take one of these things seriously, and it's not the running.
Right now it's not the drinking either. It's COVID-19. Because of this damned illness we're on a hiatus from our weekly runs. Back soon.
Our primary event is the EH3-Miler, a social and non-competitive run held every Wednesday from Six Degrees North Edinburgh, where we also grab a drink afterwards.
This event attracts a large group of great people, and we'll always have run guides available to make you feel welcome and show you the way at whatever pace works for you.
We have three distance options available; a two, three or five-mile run around the EH3 area, taking in Dean Village, Stockbridge, Inverleith Park and the Water of Leith. Each distance starts at 6:45pm - we recommend arriving 5-15 minutes before this, especially if it's your first time.

We're not an official running club, so participation in any of our events is at your own risk. Be sure to only take on what you're comfortable with and, if in doubt, consult a medical professional.

Everyone is encouraged to run at their own pace - whether that's blasting through Dean Village, easing around Inverleith Park, or walking along the Water of Leith. Some choose to test their speed from time-to-time, but the event is very much non-competitive and open to all abilities.
We also alternate between summer and winter routes. Right now, we're on our winter routes. During this time we strongly recommend bringing a headtorch for all distances.

As well as the EH3-Miler, our members often arrange additional runs, races, hikes and other less-active, pub-based pursuits.
Most of this information is shared within our Facebook group or through our Facebook Messenger group chats - we have two of these; EH3-Extra and EH3-Banter.
The EH3-Extra group chat is where information about parkruns, longer distance runs, hikes and races is generally shared.
The EH3-Banter group chat is... well, exactly what it says on the tin. This is where social gatherings are generally arranged. Remember, we're a drinking group as much as a running group!
Major events, such as upcoming talks or races are generally hosted in the Events section of our Facebook group. If you're looking for your next bit of motivation or have signed up for something and want to get others involved, feel free to see what's in there, or add your own.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: Whatever clothing and footwear you're comfortable running in, and if you're planning to run the three or five-mile routes, a head torch is essential in the winter months. You'll also need cash or card to buy a drink afterwards, if you're sticking around.
Q: Is there somewhere to leave personal items?
A: Our friends at Six Degrees North kindly let us use their downstairs bar to store personal items during the run - however, anything left is at your own risk, so we wouldn't recommend leaving anything valuable.
Q: Are there any costs?
A: Nope. Every EH3-Milers event is completely free of charge, and always will be - just bring money if you plan to stick around for a drink (or you could always buy EH3-Milers kit here).
Q: Do I need to come every week?
A: You're welcome to come as often as you can manage. Some of our members come regularly, others every few months.
Q: Do you hold other runs through the week?
A: Extra runs are often arranged on our Facebook page or group chats, or if you're looking for runner-specific strength and conditioning training, our friends at Edinburgh Runners hold these every Tuesday and Saturday. Learn more here.
Q: What if I don't know anyone?
A: That's to be expected, but we're a really friendly and welcoming group, and we'll make sure to pair you up with a run leader who will show you the course until you're comfortable with it. If you're still not sure, get in contact and we'll give you someone specific to ask for when you arrive.
Q: Do I have to follow the route?
A: If you want to go rogue and do your own thing, feel free - but if you find any good routes, be sure to tell us about them!
Q: What if I get lost on the route?
A: That's no trouble, just make your way back to the bar, chat to us after and we can make sure someone shows you the way next time.
Q: Do I have to stay for a drink afterwards?
A: It's encouraged, but not essential. Likewise, if you only want to come for the drink and not the run, that's totally fine too.
